• Imigran X 8 Tablet

Brand Names: ImitrexImigran.
Generic Name: Sumatriptan.
This medication description is not meant for treatment prescription without the intervention of a specialist

Common Uses
Imigran is prescribed for the treatment of a migraine attack with or without the presence of an aura (visual disturbances, usually sensations of halos or flickering lights, which precede an attack). The injectable form is also used to relieve cluster headache attacks. (Cluster headaches come on in waves, then disappear for long periods of time. They are limited to one side of the head, and occur mainly in men.)
Imigran cuts headaches short. It will not reduce the number of attacks you experience.

How to Take
The usual adult dose is one 25, 50, or 100 milligram tablet taken with water or other liquid. The most you should take at one time is 100 milligrams, and the most you should take in 1 day is 200 milligrams. Doses should be spaced at least 2 hours apart.
If you have liver disease, you should not take more than 50 milligrams of Imigran Tablets at one time.
The recommended adult dose (spray) ranges from 5 to 20 milligrams taken when the attack begins and repeated once, if necessary, 2 hours later. Doses are usually taken as a single spray in one nostril, but if a 10-milligram dose works best for you, you can take it as a 5-milligram spray in each nostril. Do not use more than 20 milligrams at a time, or take more than 40 milligrams a day.

Warning and Precautions
Imigran may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Imigran with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
Overuse of Imigran can cause your headache to become worse. Do not take more than the recommended dose or use more often than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
Rarely, serious heart problems (eg, heart attack, irregular heartbeat) have been reported within a few hours of using Imigran. Contact your doctor at once if fast or irregular heartbeat; chest, jaw, or neck pain or numbness; numbness of an arm or leg; severe stomach pain, dizziness, or vomiting; fainting; or vision changes occur. Discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor.
Serotonin syndrome is a possibly fatal syndrome that can be caused by Imigran. Your risk may be greater if you take Imigran with certain other medicines (eg, SSRIs, SNRIs). Symptoms may include agitation; confusion; hallucinations; coma; fever; fast or irregular heartbeat; tremor; excessive sweating; and nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Contact your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms.
Imigran should not be used to prevent or reduce the number of migraine headaches you have. If you have a headache that is different than your usual migraine headaches, check with your doctor before using Imigran.
Do not use more than the recommended dose without checking with your doctor.
Lab tests, including heart function tests, may be performed while you use Imigran. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
